![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately the fates of most of Latin America’s economies are tied to the US in one way or the other. Both DR and Mexico get alot of American tourist money. It’s a sifnigicant part of our countries economy and that’s not even including tourism lol. I’m partially of Dominican descent, so I know how important remittance money can be. Brazil is surrounded by less prosperous countries. For most Latin Americans they don’t have the same option. I think Mexico is perennially in the top 2-3 countries in the world for percentage of GDP that’s contributed by their diaspora, citizens living overseas. Don’t get the business investment and remittances that come with it. Some more context: before anyone jumps to conclusions about Mexico vis-a-cis the rest of Latin America it should be noted that the countries south of Mexico, especially Brazil, don’t benefit from being bordered by the wealthiest country in the western world. ![]()
